This is a very relaxing, accessible and rewarding loop, up the coast to the unspoilt beauty of Fraser Island and back through the hinterland.
From Brisbane, take a leisurely day to get to Mooloolaba. It’s less than two hours driving but there are attractions worth stopping for like Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo at Beerwah or maybe Aussie World and the Ettamorgah Pub (you’ll know at a glance if this is for you).
There’s also the Big Pineapple near Nambour. At Mooloolaba you’ll find a good beach, restaurants, nightlife, accommodation and UnderwaterWorld.

Head north through Alexandra Headland, Moroochydore, Coolum and Perigian Beaches to Noosa. Explore the beaches on the way and enjoy cosmopolitan Noosa overnight.

Heading to Hervey Bay and Fraser Island today – worth taking the turnoff at Gympie to Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach on the way. Head across from Hervey Bay to Fraser Island.

Spend the day exploring the many natural wonders on Fraser.

Head back down through Maryborough and Gympie to the Sunshine Coast hinterland and stay somewhere charming around Mapleton, Montville and Maleny, soak in the creativity and the scenery.
