
Belray Diamond Mine Tours - Kimberley
The
Argyle Diamond Mine, in the rugged Kimberley region of Western Australia,
has placed Australia as the world's largest diamond producer, producing
in excess of 38 million carats per annum. As Australia's only major
diamond producer, it produces extremely rare and valuable pink diamonds,
as well as fine whites and intriguing champagne and cognac diamonds.
Belray Diamond Tours offer a unique site tour of the Argyle Diamond
Mine and have been specialising in site tours of the mine since
1988.
The
duration of the tour is 3.5-4 hours and highlights include:
- a visit to a viewing platform located on the southern face
of the open cut, showing panoramic views of the mine (subject
to availability)
- a comprehensive guided drive through the processing plant from
ore extraction to pre cutting and polishing stages.
- a visit to the Diamond Viewing Room to see displays of rough
and polished diamonds.
- a full buffet luncheon at the Argyle Village - the Argyle employee
living area, where visitors are able to experience the living
conditions of a modern mine worker, first hand.

coach, direct return flights from Kununurra, Scenic return flights
over the Bungle Bungle Ranges or a 3 day all inclusive tour option
which takes in the best of the Kimberley region.

Hours of Operation: June - September every Thursday for the
road trip, with flights operating daily on demand, all year round.
How to get there: The Argyle Diamond Mine is located some
3,500 kms by road from Perth, and 176kms by road from the township
of Kununurra. Qantas operates daily flights from Perth to Broome,
with Airnorth running a daily connecting schedule between Broome,
Kununurra and Darwin. Qantas also have a regular service into Darwin
from all major Australia centre’s, where you can pick up an
Airnorth Flight.
